Chinese Envoy Urges U.S. to Cease Provocation Over Ukraine Conflict

In a recent address to the United Nations Security Council, Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative, called on the United States to halt its blame game and cease provoking confrontations over the ongoing Ukraine crisis.

\"The crisis in Ukraine continues to drag on, and the fighting has shown no signs of abatement,\" Geng stated. He emphasized that while weapons might help in winning the war, they cannot establish lasting peace. Geng urged all parties involved to initiate peace talks promptly and appealed to the international community to create favorable conditions for these discussions.

China has consistently advocated for a ceasefire and the resumption of negotiations since the conflict began. Geng highlighted that nations from the Global South, along with many European countries, have recognized and appreciated China's efforts toward resolving the Ukraine crisis.

Addressing the role of the United States, Geng pointed out that it is the only nation disregarding China's peace initiatives and continuing to disseminate misinformation. \"China did not create the Ukraine crisis, nor is it a party to the crisis,\" he asserted. He criticized the U.S. for expecting China to take a more significant role in ending the war while simultaneously undermining China's peace efforts and escalating tensions.

Geng concluded by urging the United States to abandon its blame game and provocative stance. He called for collaboration with all concerned countries to build solidarity and consensus, fostering an environment conducive to a political resolution of the Ukraine crisis.
