China's top legislature has commenced a regular session focused on reviewing a comprehensive set of bills aimed at shaping the nation's future. Chaired by Zhao Leji, the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee held its first plenary meeting for the 13th session.
During the session, lawmakers examined several draft laws, including a value-added tax law, a national park law, and legislation on the publicity and education regarding the rule of law. Additionally, they reviewed proposals aimed at promoting the private sector, enhancing hazardous chemicals safety, and various amendments to existing laws such as those governing people's congress deputies, supervision, science and technology popularization, anti-unfair competition, and fisheries.
The committee also deliberated on a draft decision to convene the third session of the 14th NPC and reviewed reports on addressing suggestions, criticisms, and comments submitted by lawmakers from the previous session. Other topics included deputy qualification reports and personnel-related bills, highlighting the legislature's commitment to comprehensive governance and legal framework enhancement.
