Chinese President Xi Jinping recently convened a meeting with the newly appointed executive, legislative, and judicial officials of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).
During the discussion, Xi lauded the fresh governance team of the sixth-term Macao SAR government, describing them as young, energetic, and highly motivated. He expressed confidence in their ability to uphold their oath, fulfill their mission, and deliver exceptional results that would bring pride to the nation, Macao, and themselves.
Xi emphasized the importance of balancing the country's fundamental interests with those of Macao. He urged the new officials to steadfastly safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development, ensuring that both Macao and the nation thrive.
The president called for dedicated efforts to promote economic diversification, foster a more favorable business environment, and maintain stability and harmony within Macao. He highlighted the necessity of enhancing unity and cooperation within the SAR's chief executive team, urging stronger cross-domain and inter-departmental collaboration to improve governance efficiency.
Furthermore, Xi stressed the significance of integrity and honesty, reminding the officials to prioritize the wellbeing of Macao residents. He encouraged the prudent use of power and serving as upright officials dedicated to bringing tangible benefits to the people.
The meeting was attended by senior officials Cai Qi, Xia Baolong, and others, alongside Macao SAR Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai.
