Macao is making significant strides in tech innovation and talent cultivation, positioning itself as a burgeoning hub for high-tech industries. Since 2014, entrepreneurs like Lei Zhen, a Tsinghua University graduate, have chosen to invest in the region, leveraging its unique advantages.
Lei established his business in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, focusing on the innovative application of new materials with nano silver wire as its core product. In 2021, with the establishment of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Lei relocated his company to take full advantage of the zone's capital, talent, and taxation benefits, scaling up production efficiently.
\"Hengqin has a vast industrial space and a good supporting environment, which can provide a broad stage for the development of Macao's high-tech and diversified industries,\" Lei noted.
Today, the cooperation zone is a vibrant center for innovation and entrepreneurship, hosting nearly 6,500 Macao-invested enterprises. It serves as a platform for emerging industries, fostering a dynamic ecosystem for startups and established businesses alike.
Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted the importance of this development during his recent visit, stating that \"'Macao plus Hengqin' is becoming a new demonstration to enhance the practice of 'One Country, Two Systems,' a new highland to promote the building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and a new platform to realize the country's high-level opening up.\"
This strategic initiative not only boosts Macao's economic growth but also reinforces its role in the Greater Bay Area's technological and entrepreneurial landscape, attracting global talents and fostering sustainable development.
