Zhuhai, a vibrant city in south China's Guangdong Province adjacent to the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), is poised to enhance cross-border emergency medical services. The city is set to deploy four ambulances equipped with dual Guangdong-Macao license plates, pending final approval.
These specialized ambulances will significantly streamline the transfer of critically ill patients between Zhuhai and Macao, according to the pre-hospital emergency care branch of Zhuhai's medical association. This initiative marks a pivotal step in improving emergency response efficiency and patient outcomes in the region.
In a bid to deepen the integration of medical resources within the Greater Bay Area, Zhuhai has dispatched twelve emergency response team members to Hong Kong for advanced training this year. Additionally, thirty-three emergency medical personnel from Hong Kong have visited Zhuhai in three separate batches for exchange programs and training sessions.
Beyond training, Zhuhai has organized and hosted joint drills, actively participating in emergency exercises and academic exchanges across the Greater Bay Area. These efforts are broadening and deepening cooperation in emergency medical rescue, fostering a more resilient and coordinated regional healthcare network.
Yang Lijuan, director of Zhuhai's emergency medical rescue center, highlighted that the introduction of dual-license ambulances and the enhancement of academic exchanges represent significant progress in the city's mission to promote emergency medical rescue cooperation among Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and the Macao SAR.
As Macao approaches the 25th anniversary of its return to China, these developments underscore the ongoing commitment to regional collaboration and the continuous improvement of emergency medical services within the Greater Bay Area.
