China aims to support Syria in achieving peace and restoring stability as swiftly as possible, according to a statement by a Chinese envoy on Tuesday.
Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, highlighted the significant changes in Syria's situation during his remarks at the United Nations Security Council briefing on Syria. He emphasized, \"Recently, the situation in Syria has undergone drastic changes, to which China pays great attention.\"
Geng stressed the importance of stabilizing the security situation, urging all parties involved in Syria to exercise calm and restraint. He called for the avoidance of actions that could escalate tensions and the prevention of new conflicts.
The ambassador also urged all parties to take measures to prohibit attacks against civilians and to protect the security of diplomatic missions and foreign nationals in the country.
He expressed hope that Syria's state institutions would remain operational to facilitate the restoration of social order. Additionally, Geng called on influential countries, especially regional ones, to play a constructive role in stabilizing the situation in Syria.
