China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi Champions Peace and Inclusion at Beijing Symposium

Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday pledged to position China as a force for peace, unity, openness, justice and inclusion in a speech delivered at a foreign policy symposium in Beijing.

Wang emphasized that building a community with a shared future for mankind is the cornerstone of China’s major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, during the Symposium on the International Situation and China’s Foreign Relations in 2024.

Highlighting China’s commitment to global stability, Wang stated that the nation actively strives for the restoration of world peace and works tirelessly to save human lives.

Addressing the ongoing Ukraine crisis, he reiterated China’s consistent objective and impartial stance, advocating strongly for peace and negotiations as the path forward.

Regarding the conflict in Gaza, Wang expressed deep concern over the loss of civilian lives and underscored the urgent need for a comprehensive ceasefire and cessation of hostilities. He highlighted the importance of ensuring humanitarian aid and reiterated that the fundamental solution lies in achieving a two-state solution.

Wang affirmed that China will firmly remain a force for peace, urging the incoming U.S. administration to make the right decisions. He called for collaboration with China, elimination of interference, and overcoming obstacles to strive for stable, healthy, and sustainable development in China-U.S. relations.

Additionally, Wang announced that China will deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation and all-around practical collaboration with Russia, promote China-EU relations, and steadily advance along a path of independence, mutual achievement, and global benefit.
