The Golden Promise 2024: Celebrating China-Cambodia Cultural Bonds in Phnom Penh

The Golden Promise 2024, a China-Cambodia cultural show, was staged on Sunday evening in Phnom Penh, marking the year of people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.

Held at the iconic Chaktomuk Theater, the spectacular event featured performances by Chinese artists from Wuxi City in Jiangsu Province and Cambodian artists from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.

Distinguished guests, including Cheam Yeap, first vice president of Cambodia's National Assembly, and Ek Sam Ol, president of the Cambodia-China Friendship Association, attended the celebration.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin emphasized that the event was part of collaborative efforts to honor the China-Cambodia people-to-people exchange year 2024. "I believe that the audience could be deeply interested in Chinese culture and tradition through this cultural show," he stated.

Wang highlighted that the event not only strengthened cultural ties but also fostered the enduring friendship between China and Cambodia.

The two-hour show showcased a blend of traditional songs and dances from the Chinese troupe, while Cambodian performers presented the Royal Ballet, a UNESCO-listed intangible cultural heritage, alongside traditional music.

Keo Sreylin, a 25-year-old civil servant at the Ministry of Tourism, praised the event, noting the high level of professionalism and talent displayed by all artists. "I like watching Chinese art performances because I'm keen to know more about China's beautiful culture, tradition, and customs," she shared.

Sokun Povneath, a senior student at the National University of Management, appreciated the diversity and richness of the performances. "The artists from China performed well, and their gestures were vivid," he remarked.
