China Backs Syria’s Reconstruction with Emphasis on Inclusive Dialogue, FM Wang Yi Says

In a strong show of international support, China has pledged its backing for Syria's early realization of peace and reconstruction. During a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of inclusive dialogue in shaping Syria's rebuilding plan.

Wang Yi, a prominent member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted China's long-standing policy of friendship and cooperation with Syria. He stressed that China has consistently respected Syria's sovereignty and never interfered in its internal affairs.

\"We support Syria in realizing peace at the earliest, implementing Security Council resolution 2254, and advancing the domestic political process in accordance with the principle of 'Syrian-led, Syrian-owned,'\" Wang stated. He further noted the necessity of finding a reconstruction plan that aligns with the wishes of the Syrian people through inclusive dialogue.

The Foreign Minister also addressed the broader Middle East turmoil, advocating for an immediate ceasefire and the cessation of violence to alleviate the humanitarian crisis. He underscored the fundamental need for political settlements, dialogue, and negotiation, while firmly opposing all forms of terrorism and extremist forces.

Wang Yi called on the international community to uphold Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, respect its ethnic and religious traditions, and allow the Syrian people to make independent decisions. He urged all nations to collaborate in lifting illegal unilateral sanctions that have exacerbated Syria's humanitarian situation over the years.

China's commitment to supporting Syria's path towards peace and stability reflects its broader approach to international relations, emphasizing self-determination and non-interference. As the global community watches, China's role could be pivotal in shaping Syria's future and contributing to lasting peace in the region.
