The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is celebrating Chinese intangible cultural heritage through a vibrant exhibition at the UJ Art Gallery in Johannesburg. In collaboration with Shanghai University, the \"Belt and Road\" International Handicraft Art Exhibition brings a diverse array of traditional Chinese arts and crafts to the forefront.
Under the theme \"Dialogue with World Cultures,\" the exhibition features exquisite paper cuttings, intricate embroidery, elegant silk tapestries, colorful New Year paintings (nianhua), beautifully crafted kites, and distinctive purple clay teapots. These artworks not only highlight the rich craftsmanship of the Chinese mainland but also foster cultural exchange and understanding.
The exhibition will run until January 25 and is set to travel internationally to countries including Australia, France, Italy, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Sweden, and Turkey. This global tour aims to share the beauty and significance of Chinese handicrafts with a wider audience, promoting appreciation for cultural diversity and artistic expression.
