The Chinese mainland has reaffirmed the one-China principle, emphasizing that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. During a regular press briefing, spokesperson Mao Ning responded to reports about Taiwan authorities' actions on the international stage.
Mao Ning stated, \"There is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China.\" She highlighted China's commendation of Somalia's government for upholding the one-China principle and expressed firm support for Somalia in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The spokesperson further opposed any mutual establishment of official institutions or forms of official exchanges between Taiwan authorities and Somaliland. \"We urge relevant parties in Somalia to see the trend of history sooner rather than later, and strictly uphold the one-China position,\" Mao added.
These remarks come in response to Taiwan's Deputy Foreign Minister Wu Chih-Chung attending the inauguration ceremony of the president of Somaliland as a special envoy for Lai Ching-te. China views such actions as attempts by Taiwan authorities to seek independence through foreign support, which it considers doomed to fail.
