In a strong response to recent international tensions, the Chinese mainland has criticized Canada’s sanctions, labeling them as an 'ugly, hypocritical political stunt.'
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning expressed concerns over Canada’s allegations regarding China’s human rights record and the sanctions imposed on Chinese personnel. Mao highlighted that these actions are baseless and carry serious repercussions.
During a press briefing, Mao responded to questions about the sanctions announced by Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly on Tuesday, emphasizing that China stands firm in defending its sovereignty and interests.
\"China has made clear its just position on Canada's decision. The whole thing is an ugly, hypocritical political stunt done by some Canadian political figures under the pretext of human rights to serve an unspeakable agenda and please the United States. This is quite apparent to many in the world,\" Mao stated.
He further condemned Canada’s actions, urging the Canadian authorities to retract their wrongdoing. Mao assured that China will take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and developmental interests.
