In a significant advancement for China’s space capabilities, the XZY-1 verification rocket successfully completed a static firing test on December 5 at the Haiyang Oriental Aerospace Port in Shandong Province.
Developed by Beijing Jianyuan Technology Co., Ltd., also known as Space Epoch, the XZY-1 is China's inaugural medium-lift launch vehicle featuring a stainless steel rocket body. It is powered by liquid oxygen-methane engines and is designed to be recoverable after an ocean splashdown, showcasing innovative engineering and sustainability efforts.
The test involved a full-power static firing that lasted 20 seconds, during which the rocket’s 70-tonne-class liquid oxygen-methane engine was ignited and operated as planned. This successful ignition is a crucial step in validating the rocket's performance and reliability.
The achievement not only confirms the operational reliability of the entire rocket system but also validates Space Epoch's self-developed test stand. This test stand is equipped with an elevated steel structure and a water-cooled flow guide, ensuring precise and effective testing conditions.
The successful test of the XZY-1 rocket marks a pivotal moment in China’s aerospace sector, potentially paving the way for more ambitious space missions and reinforcing China’s position in the global space industry.
