Xi Jinping Champions Modernized Information Support for Chinese Military

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for the development of a robust and modernized information support force, aiming to achieve significant advancements in the Chinese military's network information system.

During an inspection of the Chinese People's Liberation Army's information support force on Wednesday, Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), emphasized the importance of technological innovation and the critical role of information systems in modern warfare.

The information support force, a newly established strategic branch within the military restructuring, received its military flag from Xi in April this year. In his recent remarks, he congratulated the force on its first Party Congress and greeted its members, highlighting the impressive progress made thus far.

Xi underscored the necessity of enhancing information services, building public network platforms, and prioritizing cybersecurity. He urged the force to focus on strengthening its network information system to support combat readiness, stressing the need for continuous reforms, improved coordination, and stronger legal frameworks to boost the quality and efficiency of these systems.

Recognizing that the force is still in its early stages, Xi called for strengthening its internal structure, upholding the Party's leadership, and ensuring strict Party discipline. He encouraged the Party committee of the force to enhance leadership and cultivate a professional and skilled workforce.

In conclusion, Xi appealed to the CMC to enhance coordination and for other government departments to collaborate in building the information support force, thereby advancing the Chinese military's network information capabilities.
