Mainland Chinese University Delegation Completes Taiwan Visit

A delegation of 40 students and teachers from seven universities in the Chinese mainland concluded their nine-day visit to Taiwan on Thursday. Departing on November 27, the group explored universities, historical landmarks, scenic destinations, and venues dedicated to sports, science, technology, and culture, while actively engaging with local residents throughout their stay.

Invited by the Taiwan-based Ma Ying-jeou Culture and Education Foundation, the delegation was led by Qiu Yong, secretary of the Communist Party of China Tsinghua University Committee. During the farewell dinner on Wednesday, Qiu highlighted the strong connections felt between compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and the island's unique appeal.

He emphasized the importance of creating more opportunities for young people across the Straits to learn from one another, enhancing the spiritual bonds through Chinese cultural traditions, and advancing educational cooperation. \"In the course of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, compatriots on neither side of the Straits can be absent,\" Qiu stated.

Hsiao Hsu-tsen, executive director of the Ma Ying-jeou Culture and Education Foundation, greeted the delegation at the airport on Thursday, noting that the mainland students and teachers received warm welcomes from Taiwan residents throughout their journey. Hsiao affirmed that the foundation will continue to promote youth exchanges as the cornerstone of future cross-Strait relations.
