Wang Yi Calls for Stronger China-Japan Relations to Foster Global Peace

In a bid to enhance regional stability, Wang Yi, China's top diplomat and a key member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the importance of fostering stable and lasting ties between China and Japan. Speaking via video at the 20th Beijing-Tokyo Forum, Wang highlighted the deep-rooted exchange history between the two nations, spanning over 2,000 years, and acknowledged the more than five decades of diplomatic relations.

Wang stressed that a positive China-Japan relationship is crucial not only for both countries and their people but also for maintaining peace and development in the wider region and the world. He urged both nations to adhere to their foundational aspirations, seek common ground, and coordinate their actions to ensure the right trajectory for bilateral relations.

He further noted that China regards Japan as a significant partner and hopes that Japan views China's development in an objective and rational manner. Wang called for both countries to follow a comprehensive and strategic approach to their relationship, ensuring that they remain cooperative partners without posing threats to each other.
