In a significant display of bilateral cooperation, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese President, met with Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President and Senate President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), in Beijing on Tuesday.
Xi emphasized China's unwavering commitment to its relationship with Cambodia, highlighting a vision to build a high-quality, high-level, and high-standard China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era. He called for both nations to uphold mutual support and consolidate their iron-clad friendship, ensuring that China continues to support Cambodia in safeguarding its national sovereignty, security, and development interests.
The Chinese leader urged efforts to deepen mutual learning and exchanges, pledging assistance to Cambodia in exploring development paths tailored to its national conditions. He highlighted the potential for cooperation to create new win-win situations, specifically mentioning the enrichment of their \"Diamond Hexagon\" cooperation framework. Plans include formulating cooperation strategies for the \"Industrial Development Corridor\" and the \"Fish and Rice Corridor,\" while promoting synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and Cambodia's Pentagonal Strategy.
Xi underscored that both China and Cambodia are dedicated to being forces for peace, development, and progress globally. He committed China to supporting Cambodia's enhanced role in international and regional affairs, strengthening the influence of the Global South, and opposing external forces that introduce a Cold War mentality into the region.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed Cambodia's profound gratitude to China for its invaluable support and assistance in the nation's political, economic, and social development over the years. He affirmed that China is Cambodia's most trusted friend, a consensus firmly held within the CPP, and one that will remain steadfast despite leadership transitions in Cambodia.
Hun Sen also highlighted Cambodia's willingness to comprehensively strengthen party-to-party exchanges with China, deepen political mutual trust, promote pragmatic cooperation across various fields, enhance youth and cultural exchanges, and bolster coordination and cooperation with China on international and regional affairs.
