The China-Laos Railway, now celebrating its third anniversary, has significantly contributed to regional economic growth, according to China's railway operator.
Spanning 1,035 kilometers, this flagship project under China's Belt and Road Initiative connects Kunming in China's southwest to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Since its inception on December 3, 2021, the railway has been a pivotal infrastructure development in the region.
As of Monday, the railway has facilitated over 43 million passenger trips and transported 48.3 million tonnes of cargo, according to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. These figures underscore the railway's role in enhancing connectivity and boosting trade between the two nations.
