A boating tragedy struck southwest China's Guizhou Province on Monday morning, resulting in the loss of eight lives. The incident unfolded at approximately 9:30 a.m. BJT on the Pingzheng River in Congjiang County, according to local authorities.
Thirteen individuals were aboard the privately-operated vessel at the time of the capsizing. Emergency rescue teams swiftly responded, successfully rescuing five people, who are currently reported to be in stable condition.
The Guizhou authorities have identified the vessel involved and are conducting further investigations to determine the causes behind the unfortunate event.
