In a significant move to strengthen international ties, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Sunday. Both nations pledged to advance all-round high-quality cooperation, marking a pivotal moment in China-Uzbekistan relations.
Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized Uzbekistan's status as China's first all-weather comprehensive strategic partner in the new era. This underscores the unique and strategic nature of their bilateral relations.
The two sides agreed to strive for more high-quality outcomes in their cooperation, focusing on key areas such as emerging sectors, energy collaboration, and enhancing law enforcement and security measures against terrorism, separatism, extremism, and transnational organized crime.
Uzbek Foreign Minister Saidov expressed a desire to learn from China's successful experiences, deepen Belt and Road cooperation, and push forward the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project. Additionally, Uzbekistan expressed a warm welcome to more Chinese tourists and committed to facilitating further personnel exchanges between the two countries.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a mutual visa exemption agreement, paving the way for increased travel and economic collaboration between China and Uzbekistan.
