Xi Jinping Calls for Modern Adaptation of Marxism in China

Chinese leader Xi Jinping has emphasized the need to adapt Marxism to fit the Chinese context and contemporary needs. Speaking at a conference in Beijing, Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered an instruction on the project dedicated to studying and developing Marxist theory in the new era.

The initiative, launched two decades ago, has been instrumental in promoting the Party's innovative theories and reinforcing the role of Marxism in China's ideological framework. Xi stressed the importance of deepening theoretical research and enhancing public communication to ensure that the Party's innovative theories are well understood by the population.

He also highlighted the necessity of integrating the core principles of Marxism with China's specific realities and rich traditional culture. According to Xi, accelerating the development of an independent knowledge system for Chinese philosophy and social sciences is essential, as is cultivating a pool of high-caliber theoretical talent.

Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, attended the conference. Cai called for intensified efforts to study Marxism's fundamental tenets, address China's unique challenges, and explore the depth of traditional Chinese culture and its modern values to foster theoretical innovation.
