China Denounces US Blacklist of 29 Firms Over Xinjiang ‘Forced Labor’ Claims

In a strong response, China has condemned the United States' recent decision to blacklist 29 Chinese companies under the \"Uygur Forced Labor Prevention Act\" (UFLPA).

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesperson declared that the US move lacks factual basis and amounts to economic coercion masked as human rights protection. \"We firmly oppose this act of bullying and will take necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises,\" the spokesperson stated.

China asserted that there is no forced labor in its Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, emphasizing its stance against such practices. The spokesperson further criticized the US sanctions, highlighting that they were imposed without concrete evidence and solely based on Chinese companies' business activities related to Xinjiang. This, according to China, not only infringes upon the basic human rights of Xinjiang residents but also disrupts global supply chain stability and the legitimate interests of affected businesses.

\"We urge the US side to immediately stop political manipulation, smearing, and attacking, and cease its unreasonable suppression of Chinese companies,\" the spokesperson added.

The UFLPA, enacted in June 2022, aims to prevent the entry of goods produced with forced labor from Xinjiang into the US market. China's latest reaction underscores the ongoing tensions between the two nations over trade practices and human rights issues.
