The Global Supply Chain Promotion Report 2024 was unveiled on Tuesday at the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). This flagship publication delves into the latest trends, challenges, and advancements shaping global supply chains.
The comprehensive report maps out supply chains across 11 pivotal industries, including humanoid robots, smart cars, integrated circuits, wind power, coffee, and cotton. These maps detail the distribution of supply chains across upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors, highlighting the leading economies and enterprises at each stage.
Key trends identified in the report encompass the integration of emerging technologies and a noticeable shift towards regionalization, diversification, digitalization, and sustainability. These shifts are transforming supply chain structures, fostering the development of innovative business models, and prompting the creation of new trade rules to address the dynamic nature of global supply chains.
Furthermore, the report emphasizes the increasing focus on supply chain resilience. Nations and businesses are proactively safeguarding critical product flows by enhancing domestic production capabilities and bolstering risk monitoring systems.
Ren Hongbin, chairman of CCPIT, highlighted the significance of this report, noting that it is the first of its kind to offer such an in-depth analysis of global supply chains. He emphasized that the data-driven insights provided address crucial questions about supply chain connectivity and disruption risks, concerns that are paramount to both governments and the global business community.
