New High-Speed Rail Line Boosts Yangtze River Delta Connectivity

The Yangtze River Delta region is set to enhance its connectivity with the introduction of a new high-speed rail line. This latest addition connects Shanghai Municipality with the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang, marking a significant development in east China’s transportation infrastructure.

The inaugural high-speed train, designed to travel at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, departed Shanghai Hongqiao station at 9:27 a.m. on Saturday. The journey will take passengers to Huzhou in Zhejiang, with a stopover in Suzhou, Jiangsu, according to China Railway Shanghai Group.

Stretching approximately 163 kilometers, the rail line boasts eight stations, six of which are newly constructed. This expansion is expected to further stimulate growth and development across the Yangtze River Delta, facilitating easier movement for both commuters and businesses.

The new high-speed railway is currently undergoing a month-long trial operation and is slated for its official launch by the end of December. This initiative underscores the region’s commitment to advancing its transportation networks and supporting its dynamic economy.
