China Unveils Plans for Future Manned Lunar Mission

China is set to take another giant leap in space exploration, unveiling detailed plans for its future manned lunar mission. Released during the Human Space Symposium, a video by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) showcases astronauts navigating the moon's surface in a lunar rover, outlining a three-day driving route centered around the landing site.

The mission aims to master critical technologies, including manned Earth-moon round trips, short-term lunar stays, and human-robot collaborative exploration. These advancements will enable tasks such as landing, roving, sampling, research, and the safe return of astronauts to Earth.

China's inaugural manned lunar mission will kick off with the launch of the Lanyue lunar lander aboard the nation's new heavy carrier rocket. Subsequently, the Mengzhou manned spacecraft will join in space, rendezvousing with Lanyue in lunar orbit. Astronauts will transfer to the lander, descend to the moon's surface, and conduct exploration activities. Upon completion, they'll return to lunar orbit, re-dock with the spacecraft, and embark on their journey back to Earth.
