FedEx is taking a significant leap in its logistics network by ramping up its Xiamen-U.S. cargo flight services. The global express giant announced on Thursday that the frequency of its Xiamen-U.S. cargo flights has increased from once a week to five times a week, operating from Tuesday to Saturday using Boeing 777 freighters.
The enhanced route now departs from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, makes a strategic stop in Incheon, the Republic of Korea, before connecting to Anchorage, Alaska, and Memphis, Tennessee. This expansion effectively reduces transit times for parcels and heavy cargo from Fujian to North America by one to two days, offering faster and more reliable delivery options for businesses and consumers.
In addition to the increased flight frequency, FedEx inaugurated a new international gateway operation facility in Xiamen. Spanning over 3,800 square meters, the state-of-the-art facility features fully automated sorting lines designed to boost efficiency. It serves customers in Xiamen and the broader Fujian region, while also supporting export activities from Changsha and Shantou. By integrating customs clearance with sorting processes, the facility streamlines cross-border e-commerce and freight handling, making it easier for businesses to reach global markets.
Robert Chu, vice president of FedEx China, highlighted the strategic importance of these developments, stating, \"Expanding our flight services and launching this new facility underscores our commitment to strengthening connections between second- and third-tier Chinese cities and global markets. This initiative supports the growth of local export businesses and aligns with our long-term vision for international logistics.\"
Xiamen continues to play a pivotal role in FedEx's operations in China, reinforcing the company's strategic collaboration with the Xiamen government to enhance international air logistics and promote cross-border e-commerce. As FedEx expands its footprint, businesses in the region can expect more efficient and faster delivery services, fostering greater economic growth and connectivity with North America.
