China-Myanmar Joint Operation Nabs 53K Telecom Fraud Suspects

In a significant victory against telecommunications fraud, China's Ministry of Public Security announced Thursday that it has successfully dismantled all major telecom fraud centers located near the China-Myanmar border in northern Myanmar.

Since launching the crackdown initiative last year, collaborative efforts between Chinese and Myanmar police have led to the arrest of over 53,000 Chinese nationals suspected of orchestrating telecom fraud schemes. This marks a substantial breakthrough in the ongoing battle against cross-border scams.

Highlighting the success of these joint operations, authorities disclosed that 1,079 fraud suspects were apprehended recently in Tangyan, a prominent area in northern Myanmar. Among those arrested, 763 Chinese individuals have already been extradited back to China, reinforcing the commitment to eliminating such fraudulent activities.

\"This operation represents another milestone in our relentless pursuit to eradicate cross-border telecom fraud,\" stated the ministry. Moving forward, China's public security agencies pledge to maintain rigorous pressure on telecom fraud operations, particularly in regions identified as hotspots for scam activities.

Emphasizing the importance of international collaboration, the ministry vowed to enhance law enforcement cooperation between Chinese and Myanmar police forces. Additionally, authorities issued a public warning against deceptive recruitment advertisements offering high-paying overseas jobs, cautioning that such offers could lure individuals into criminal enterprises.
