Xi Jinping Advocates for Open, Innovative Global Economy at G20 Summit

At the second session of the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the need for a world economy marked by innovation and openness.

Xi called for enhancing global digital and trade governance, stressing the importance of reforming the World Trade Organization. He urged G20 members to oppose unilateralism and protectionism, aiming to restore the WTO's dispute settlement mechanism swiftly.

Highlighting the shared future of humanity, Xi encouraged member nations to view each other's development as opportunities and to embrace partnerships over rivalry. He also underscored the urgency of expediting the global economy's transition to green and low-carbon solutions. Xi advocated for a stable and orderly replacement of traditional energy with clean energy, cautioning against politicizing economic issues or fragmenting the global market in the name of sustainable development.

Additionally, Xi addressed pressing geopolitical conflicts, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and a political resolution to the Ukraine crisis. He emphasized the necessity of implementing a two-state solution for lasting peace in the Middle East and urged adherence to principles that prevent escalation in Ukraine.

Xi's comprehensive agenda at the G20 Summit reflects China's commitment to fostering a collaborative and sustainable global economic landscape.
