China Urges Philippines to Resolve South China Sea Disputes through Dialogue

The Chinese mainland has called on the Philippines to return to constructive dialogue and consultation to address ongoing disputes in the South China Sea. Spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang emphasized the importance of ceasing the spread of false narratives and avoiding unilateral actions that could exacerbate tensions in the region.

In recent developments, the Philippines has engaged in frequent military exercises within the South China Sea, actions that the Chinese mainland claims disrupt peace and stability and undermine the well-being of people in the area. Zhang highlighted that the Philippines' attempts to solidify the international arbitral award through domestic legislation are seen as violations of China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights.

The spokesperson reiterated that the Chinese military stands ready to take strong measures to protect China's interests, counter infringements, and maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea. This stance underscores the ongoing complexities and the critical need for dialogue in resolving maritime disputes.
