The Chinese mainland is set to welcome a significant increase of 430,000 college graduates in 2025, bringing the total number of graduates to 12.22 million, according to official data released on Thursday.
In response to the growing number of graduates, the Chinese government has introduced a series of measures to help these individuals navigate a competitive job market and explore new opportunities in a rapidly evolving economy.
The Ministry of Education emphasized the importance of aligning talent development with the changing demands of the economy and society. To achieve this, talent demand reports and lists identifying sectors facing significant shortages of skilled workers will be released, enhancing the analysis of job market needs.
Universities are urged to adjust and optimize their academic programs. A \"red-yellow card\" alert system will be implemented for programs that produce graduates with low employment prospects, ensuring that necessary adjustments are made to meet current job market demands.
Additionally, the Chinese mainland encourages graduates to explore flexible employment opportunities and entrepreneurship. Efforts are being made to tap into the potential of new industries and innovative sectors, such as the digital economy, green economy, silver economy, and low-altitude economy.
To support aspiring entrepreneurs, local governments and universities have been encouraged to implement supportive policies, including tax reductions and financial assistance. Targeted services will also be provided to help graduates commercialize their innovations.
Since September, China has organized over 55,000 job fairs across the country, offering an impressive 10.93 million job opportunities, according to the ministry.
