China's new J-35A stealth fighter, showcased at the ongoing Airshow China in Zhuhai, marks a significant enhancement to the PLA Air Force's fleet. Equipped with a domestically developed engine and an advanced human-machine interaction design, the J-35A is poised to deliver superior combat effectiveness.
During a press conference at the airshow, PLA Air Force spokesperson Xie Peng highlighted the J-35A as a pivotal addition to the Air Force's arsenal. \"The J-35A, with its homegrown engine, represents a major advancement for our fighter aircraft capabilities,\" Xie stated.
Air Force officer Li Lanxing shared insights from the test flights, noting the jet's high maneuverability and excellent handling. \"Pilots have found the J-35A to be highly maneuverable with user-friendly controls, allowing for full combat effectiveness,\" Li explained. He added that test flights are increasingly simulating real combat scenarios to further enhance the jet's performance.
Wang Yongqing, chief expert at the Shenyang Aircraft Design and Research Institute of AVIC, emphasized the J-35A's robust joint combat capabilities. \"The information and system architecture of the J-35A is designed for seamless interoperability, enabling coordination with other battlefield equipment and expanding mission possibilities,\" Wang remarked.
Unlike the J-20, which is primarily focused on air superiority, the J-35A is a medium-sized multi-role stealth fighter capable of both air superiority and strike missions against ground and maritime targets. Military expert Wang Mingzhi commented, \"Together, the J-20 and J-35A provide the Air Force with versatile capabilities, enhancing offensive operations in high-threat environments.\"
Wang added that the development of the J-35A equips China with two types of stealth fighters, significantly strengthening the Air Force's ability to safeguard the country's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
