China Launches Advanced Satellite to Boost Ocean Salinity Monitoring

China has successfully launched a new satellite dedicated to monitoring ocean salinity from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi Province. The mission, carried out by a Long March-4B Y53 rocket, took off at 6:42 a.m. Beijing Time, placing the Ocean-4 01 satellite into its designated orbit.

This scientific satellite aims to enhance China's capabilities in global ocean salinity detection, providing high-precision data crucial for understanding ocean dynamics. With improved accuracy in marine forecasting, Ocean-4 01 supports various operational needs, including marine environment and ecological forecasting, water cycle monitoring, short-term climate predictions, and research into global climate change.

In addition to ocean salinity, the satellite will aid in soil moisture measurements, offering valuable insights for sectors such as marine industries, agriculture, disaster mitigation, and meteorology.

This launch marks the 545th flight mission of China's renowned Long March rocket series, underscoring the nation's ongoing commitment to advancing space technology for environmental monitoring and research.
