The event saw the attendance of over 300 representatives from both China and Brazil, highlighting the strong ties between the two nations. Following the launch, a seminar focusing on state governance further emphasized the book's significance.
Marcio Pochmann, president of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, commended the book for its practical approach to combating poverty and lauded it as a potential global reference for similar challenges.
Evandro Menezes de Carvalho, a Brazilian professor of international law, highlighted the book's role in showcasing how Xi Jinping collaborated with local communities in Fujian Province to devise effective poverty alleviation strategies.
Henrique Nobrega, president of the Brazil-China Friendship Association, emphasized the book as a milestone for reflecting on ongoing poverty issues and advocated for Brazil to mirror China's successful policies, fostering exchanges in experience and technology to address poverty.
Up and Out of Poverty encompasses Xi's speeches and articles, along with photographs, from his tenure as Party chief of Ningde City between 1988 and 1990. The book, now available in nine languages, marks the latest expansion with its Portuguese edition, aiming to inspire global efforts in poverty reduction.
