Xi Jinping Calls for Swift Action After Deadly Zhuhai Car Ramming Attack

In the wake of a tragic car ramming incident on Monday in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, has urged all-out efforts to treat the injured.

The devastating attack occurred at a sports center, resulting in the loss of 35 lives and leaving 43 individuals severely injured. In his instruction, Xi demanded that the perpetrator be severely punished in accordance with the law.

Xi emphasized the necessity for all localities and relevant authorities to draw lessons from this case, strengthening the prevention and control of risks at their sources. He highlighted the importance of timely dispute resolution to prevent the occurrence of extreme incidents, aiming to safeguard the security of people's lives and maintain social stability.

Chinese premier Li Qiang echoed Xi's sentiments, calling for the aftermath of the incident to be handled appropriately. He stressed the need for a swift investigation and the severe punishment of the perpetrator according to the law. Li also urged coordinated risk prevention and control efforts to ensure ongoing social stability.

Following Xi's instructions, China's central authorities have dispatched a team to oversee the handling of the case, ensuring a comprehensive and effective response to the tragedy.
