The 31st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting is underway in Lima, Peru, from November 10 to 16. This year’s summit highlights the deepening partnership between China and Peru, two nations with a long history of collaboration.
Peru was among the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic relations and a comprehensive strategic partnership with China. It also became the first in the region to sign a series of free trade agreements with China, laying a strong foundation for mutual growth.
Since the signing of the memorandum of understanding on the Belt and Road Initiative in 2019, bilateral cooperation has flourished. The collaboration spans various sectors including economy, trade, finance, and culture, showcasing the effective synergy between the two countries.
As APEC 2023 progresses, China and Peru are set to explore new avenues for cooperation, reinforcing their commitment to fostering a robust and dynamic partnership that benefits both nations and contributes to the broader Asia-Pacific region.
