Highlighting China's achievement in meeting several key climate targets ahead of the 2030 schedule, Titov emphasized the country's proactive measures since 2023.
\"China is acting on a broad front, which is an important and interesting experience,\" Titov remarked. He pointed to the surge of electric vehicles in China's global market as a pivotal factor in reducing CO2 emissions and air pollution, aligning with the nation's ecological civilization goals.
Titov praised China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), which focuses on decreasing the reliance on coal, increasing natural gas usage, and promoting renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydrogen, and nuclear power. He also highlighted China's advancements in green financing, which are crucial for achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
As the Russian president's special envoy for relations with international organizations on sustainable development goals, Titov stressed the importance of establishing a fair global carbon market. He advocated for broader standards to ensure equitable carbon exchanges worldwide.
Looking ahead to the 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Azerbaijan, Titov expressed optimism for new advancements in a just green transition and the development of effective financial mechanisms to address climate change.
