Typhoon Yinxing Brings Heavy Rainfall to Hainan: Preparedness Measures Underway

Hainan Province is bracing for Typhoon Yinxing, which is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall from November 11 to 12. According to a report released on Sunday by China's Ministry of Water Resources, central and southeastern regions of Hainan will experience significant rainfall, posing risks of flooding.

Minor rises in water levels are anticipated in the Wanquan River, Changhua River, and other coastal rivers, raising concerns about potential flood impacts on these areas.

In response to the approaching typhoon, the Ministry of Water Resources is closely monitoring Yinxing's movement paths. The ministry will conduct daily discussions and assessments, promptly informing the Hainan Provincial Water Resources Department of updated rainfall forecasts and meeting outcomes.

To mitigate the effects of the typhoon, the ministry has called for accelerating repairs to damaged water infrastructure, enhancing mountain flood prevention measures, improving evacuation plans for at-risk areas, and optimizing reservoir operations to balance flood control with water storage needs.

A dedicated team from the Ministry of Water Resources has been deployed to Hainan to support flood control operations. Additionally, Hainan's water resources department is actively identifying and addressing risks in water infrastructure while preparing reservoirs for potential flooding scenarios.

As of 10 a.m. on November 10, Typhoon Yinxing was centered approximately 245 kilometers southeast of Sansha City, Hainan, and is expected to move southwest at a speed of 5-10 kilometers per hour, bringing the anticipated heavy rains to the region.
