China and Italy Strengthen Strategic Partnership on 20th Anniversary

In a significant move to bolster international collaboration, Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella in Beijing on Saturday. The leaders highlighted the robust and stable development of China-Italy relations, emphasizing deepened exchanges and cooperation across various fields.

Premier Li emphasized China's readiness to collaborate with Italy, especially as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their comprehensive strategic partnership. He underscored the importance of continuing traditional friendships, enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation, and elevating bilateral relations to new heights.

The discussions focused on promoting two-way opening-up, improving bilateral trade and investment facilitation, and expanding cooperation among small and medium-sized enterprises. Both leaders expressed a shared vision to create new growth opportunities in innovation and green sectors, aiming for mutual benefits and sustainable development.

Premier Li welcomed increased Italian investment in China and encouraged Italy to foster a fair and secure business environment for Chinese companies operating in Italy. Additionally, he called for the implementation of the outcomes from the China-Italy Cultural Cooperation Mechanism, aiming to deepen collaboration in culture, tourism, media, education, and local affairs to enhance people-to-people exchanges.

President Mattarella echoed these sentiments, highlighting Italy's commitment to developing friendly relations with China. He expressed eagerness to implement the consensus reached by both nations' leaders, deepen practical cooperation in trade, investment, SMEs, green development, and climate change, and strengthen cultural and educational exchanges.

Both leaders reiterated their dedication to advancing the China-EU relationship, ensuring its sound and stable development through strengthened communication and cooperation.
