Italian President Mattarella Embarks on Historic State Visit to Beijing

Italian President Sergio Mattarella arrived in Beijing on Thursday for a six-day state visit to China. His visit marks a significant milestone, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership and the 700th anniversary of the renowned Italian explorer Marco Polo's death.

Upon his arrival, President Mattarella toured the Summer Palace, China's largest imperial park and one of the most famous classical gardens globally. This visit highlights the enduring friendship and collaborative spirit between Italy and China.

Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, expressed China's readiness to deepen practical cooperation and enhance people-to-people exchanges during a regular press briefing. This statement underscores the mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

This state visit is particularly noteworthy as President Mattarella last visited China in February 2017, reaffirming the ongoing dedication to fostering strong diplomatic relations between the two nations.
