The highly anticipated J-35A medium-sized multi-role stealth fighter jet is set to make its grand debut at the 15th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, scheduled for November 12-17 in Zhuhai City, southern China.
Developed by the Shenyang Aircraft Design and Research Institute of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and manufactured by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC), under AVIC, the J-35A showcases an integrated design that seamlessly blends aerodynamics, structural integrity, and advanced stealth technology.
Although the J-35A has not been fully unveiled to the public yet, experts believe that it represents the latest trends in aviation technology. With its cutting-edge capabilities, the new fighter jet is expected to rival other stealth aircraft in its class.
Military expert Li Li highlighted that the introduction of the J-35A to the Chinese Air Force's arsenal, alongside the existing J-20 stealth fighter, positions China as one of the few countries globally to possess two distinct types of stealth fighters. Li emphasized that maintaining two stealth fighters offers strategic advantages that other nations are unlikely to match in the near future.
Fu Qianshao, another military specialist, described the J-35A as a highly capable medium-sized stealth fighter designed to meet the evolving demands of the Chinese military. He noted, \"The first key characteristic of a stealth fighter is stealth itself, encompassing radar, infrared, optical, and acoustic stealth. From its design, materials, and coatings, the J-35A's stealth performance currently ranks first in the world.\"
The J-35A is equipped with folding wings, specifically designed for aircraft carrier landings. Zhang Xinmin, former deputy captain of the China Air Force's Bayi Aerobatic Team, praised the aircraft's adaptability in harsh conditions such as high-salt and high-humidity environments. He also mentioned that the folding wings enhance the storage capacity of aircraft carriers, allowing for a larger number of aircraft to be housed. \"We anticipate that the fifth-generation fighter jet will soon be operating from our carriers,\" Zhang added.
Wang Yanan, editor-in-chief of Aerospace Knowledge, remarked that the dynamic display of the J-35A at the air show indicates that the aircraft is still in the process of being integrated into service, marking it as a relatively new addition to the military's equipment.
In addition to the J-35A, the 15th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition will also feature the unveiling of the HQ-19 surface-to-air missile weapon system and a new attack reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle, according to Niu Wenbo from the Air Force equipment department.
The airshow promises a variety of activities, including aerobatic displays, making it a prominent event for aviation enthusiasts and professionals alike.
