Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the critical need to modernize the Peopleโs Liberation Army (PLA) airborne force. Xi, who also serves as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made these remarks during his inspection of an airborne corps in Xiaogan, Hubei Province.
During his visit, Xi closely examined the equipment used in airborne operations and evaluated the tactical performance of key weapons and gear. Acknowledging the significant progress achieved in recent years, he urged the development of a new system of airborne equipment to further strengthen the force.
Xi also visited a museum dedicated to the history of the airborne corps, where he highlighted the importance of educating and guiding military personnel to uphold and carry forward the corps' illustrious legacy into the new era.
He stressed the necessity of enhancing combat readiness, intensifying joint training with other branches of the armed forces, and improving capabilities for joint command, operations, and support. Xi called for the cultivation of new-quality combat capacity and the integration of cutting-edge technological advancements to empower the airborne corps.
Furthermore, Xi urged the strengthening of Party organizations within the military to ensure unwavering political commitment and robust capabilities, while also addressing corruption and misconduct among military personnel.
