In a groundbreaking discovery, Chinese geologists have identified a substantial manganese deposit in central China, with potential reserves estimated to surpass 200 million tonnes. The Geophysical and Geochemical Survey Institute of Hunan Province announced on Friday that approximately 84 million tonnes of manganese ore have already been located in the Qiyang-Lingling Basin of Yongzhou, Hunan Province.
\"Manganese is an essential raw material for industries such as steel, new energy, and advanced materials,\" stated Liao Fengchu, director of the institute. This significant find could bolster China's domestic production capabilities, reducing reliance on imported manganese ore.
Recent drilling operations at depths exceeding 1,016 meters have uncovered a substantial manganese ore body with notable industrial potential, as reported by Xu Junwei, chief engineer of the institute.
