China and Slovakia Commit to Strengthening Long-Term Bilateral Ties

In a show of commitment to deepening bilateral relations, China has announced its intention to foster steady and long-term growth of ties with Slovakia. During a meeting in Beijing on Friday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of implementing the consensus reached by both nations' leaders, signaling a robust partnership moving forward.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, met with Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar to discuss various facets of collaboration. He highlighted that the new orientation of the China-Slovakia strategic partnership infuses strong momentum into cooperation across multiple sectors, sending a positive message globally.

Expressing appreciation for Slovakia's friendly policy and adherence to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, Wang noted the mutual understanding and respect shared between the two countries regarding each other's core interests. He underscored China's long-term and strategic approach to its relations with Slovakia and its readiness to work together to implement the leaders' consensus.

Minister Blanar echoed this sentiment, affirming Slovakia's firm commitment to the one-China policy and expressing eagerness to leverage the establishment of a strategic partnership as a springboard for enhanced bilateral development. He also voiced Slovakia's support for the six-point consensus proposed by China and Brazil concerning the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis, highlighting the nation's willingness to collaborate in achieving peace through dialogue and consultations.

Both leaders agreed to maximize the inter-governmental cooperation mechanism under their strategic guidance and to capitalize on China's 15-day visa-free entry policy for Slovak citizens to strengthen friendly exchanges. Additionally, discussions touched on China-Europe relations, with Wang Yi advocating for viewing Europe as partners rather than rivals and calling for an objective and rational attitude toward China to jointly promote the steady and sound development of China-Europe ties.
