Sam Hou Fai Takes the Helm: New Macau Chief Executive Meets President Xi

In a significant move for the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), President Xi Jinping met with Sam Hou Fai, the newly appointed Chief Executive of Macao, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday.

During the meeting, Premier Li Qiang presented Sam with a decree from the State Council, officially appointing him as the sixth-term Chief Executive of Macao SAR. President Xi extended his congratulations to Sam, praising his unwavering commitment to the country and Macao. He highlighted Sam's dedicated service as the president of Macao's Court of Final Appeal, which has been instrumental in maintaining Macao's prosperity and stability.

\"In the election, you were nominated and elected by an overwhelming majority, which demonstrates the broad recognition and support from the society of Macao. The central authorities fully acknowledge this and have full trust in you,\" President Xi remarked.

Expressing his honor at the appointment, Sam Hou Fai vowed to diligently implement the \"One Country, Two Systems\" policy. He emphasized his commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests. Sam also outlined his vision to better integrate Macao into the broader national development framework and accelerate economic diversification to foster comprehensive growth across various sectors in Macao.
