Rwandan Coffee Takes Shanghai by Storm at CIIE 2023

Rwandan coffee continues to captivate the Chinese market, building on a remarkable success story from last year. In May 2020, James Kimonyo, the Rwandan Ambassador to China, made headlines by selling nearly 1.5 tons of Rwanda coffee beans during an online live streaming event—matching the country's total coffee sales from the entire previous year.

This year, the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), scheduled from November 5 to 10 in Shanghai, serves as a pivotal platform for global businesses to showcase their products and forge valuable connections in one of the world's largest economies.

Among the exhibitors is Andrew Gatera, a passionate advocate for Rwanda coffee eager to expand its presence in China. After witnessing the overwhelming enthusiasm for his products last year, Andrew is returning to CIIE with the ambition to deepen existing connections and secure more significant deals.

Reflecting on his experience, Andrew shared, \"As a newcomer to last year's CIIE, I was amazed by the enthusiastic reception of our coffee products. This year, I aim to build on those connections and take Rwanda coffee to new heights in the Chinese market.\"

The growing exchanges between Africa and China have been instrumental in opening doors for African businesses like Andrew's. The CIIE provides a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse audience, promoting sustainable and high-quality Rwandan coffee to discerning Chinese consumers.
