China and Zambia Celebrate 60 Years of Diplomatic Friendship

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema recently commemorated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between their two nations. In heartfelt messages, both leaders reflected on the enduring friendship and collaborative progress achieved over the decades.

President Xi emphasized that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Zambia ties have weathered numerous changes in the international landscape. He highlighted the consistent genuine friendship and the joint efforts toward shared progress, noting the frequent high-level exchanges and deepened political mutual trust that have characterized recent years.

During his message, Xi recalled President Hichilema's participation in the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September, where they jointly outlined strategic guidance for the future development of bilateral relations. He expressed his commitment to building an even closer China-Zambia community with a shared future, aiming to advance modernization drives and strengthen comprehensive strategic cooperation.

President Hichilema echoed these sentiments, describing the 60th anniversary as a significant milestone in Zambia-China relations. He acknowledged the impactful cooperation projects like the Tanzania-Zambia Railway and the Kafue Gorge Lower Hydropower Station, which have greatly contributed to the development of both countries. Hichilema affirmed Zambia's support for major initiatives such as the Belt and Road cooperation and expressed his readiness to work closely with President Xi to foster greater development and a robust all-weather friendship.

Both leaders reiterated their dedication to mutual support and cooperation, aiming to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership and ensure continued benefits for their nations and peoples.
