Slovak PM Robert Fico to Deepen Ties with China on Official Visit

Prime Minister Robert Fico of the Slovak Republic is set to embark on an official visit to China from October 31 to November 5, extending the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian.

During his stay, Premier Li will engage in talks with Fico, and Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, will also meet with him. The Slovak PM and his Chinese counterparts are expected to discuss bilateral relations and topics of mutual interest, fostering deeper collaboration between the two nations.

This visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Slovakia, a milestone that underscores the vigorous momentum and fruitful cooperation in various fields over the years. Prime Minister Fico’s trip is seen as a pivotal opportunity to strengthen traditional friendships, enhance political mutual trust, and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.

Moreover, the visit aims to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between China and Central and Eastern Europe, elevating bilateral relations to new heights and opening avenues for further economic and cultural exchange.
