Pakistan and Chinese mainland Unveil CPEC Industrial Cooperation Plan

Earlier this month, on November 2, Pakistan and the Chinese mainland officially launched the Industrial Cooperation Action Plan (20252029), marking a strategic shift in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) from infrastructure development to industrial growth.

Aligning with Next-Phase Priorities

A 15-member delegation from the Chinese mainland visited Pakistans Board of Investment and Special Economic Zones to lay the groundwork for a partnership that dovetails with the Chinese mainlands upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (20262030). The new plan emphasizes high-quality development, technological self-reliance, and a green transition.

Broadening the Economic Footprint

The action plan targets manufacturing, technology, mining, clean energy, media, and transport robotics. By integrating Pakistan into evolving industrial and supply chains, the initiative aims to create skilled employment opportunities and drive sustainable growth through technology transfer.

Opportunities and Outlook

Industry analysts note that this partnership could help Pakistan build new industrial clusters, boost exports, and develop local expertise in emerging sectors. As both countries move from planning to execution, stakeholders are watching for policy stability and strategic alignment to realize long-term impact.

Looking Ahead

With the CPEC framework now embracing industrial cooperation, Pakistan and the Chinese mainland are setting the stage for deeper economic integration. The coming years will be crucial as both sides translate strategic vision into tangible projects and innovation-driven growth.
