AI Takes Center Stage at 22nd China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning

The 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) wrapped up on September 21 in the Chinese mainland city of Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Over a week, business leaders, officials, and innovators from the Chinese mainland and ASEAN member states gathered to explore new avenues for regional synergy.

The expo’s core mission was to strengthen industrial and supply chain cooperation across borders. Through a series of negotiation rounds and sector-specific forums, participants mapped out collaborative roadmaps spanning electronics, agriculture, and green energy.

This year’s highlight was artificial intelligence. The debut AI pavilion featured nearly 200 leading companies and innovators — including Huawei and Alibaba Cloud — showcasing applications from smart manufacturing to precision agriculture.

The first China-ASEAN Ministerial Forum on Artificial Intelligence provided a platform for policymakers and tech executives to discuss ethics, standards, and investment in AI, underscoring the region’s ambition to become a global hub for intelligent technology.

Experts say the expo’s data-driven insights could translate into real-world impact: streamlined logistics, decarbonized production, and cross-border digital services. For digital nomads, travelers, and investors eyeing emerging markets, these developments signal a more connected and smart Southeast Asia.

As the China-ASEAN corridor evolves, events like CAEXPO will play a key role in shaping a resilient and tech-driven regional economy — one where diverse voices and innovations converge for shared growth.
