Global Experts Praise Li Qiang’s Call for Open Tech Innovation at Summer Davos

At the opening of the 2025 Summer Davos Forum, Chinese premier Li Qiang spotlighted China's strides in technology and science, emphasizing a collaborative future. Attendees from around the world shared their optimism about open innovation and global partnerships.

Jasmin Hume, CEO and founder of U.S. AI company Shiru, highlighted the scale of progress in China. “It's clear that China is a massive leader in forging the way towards new advancements in AI and other technologies,” she said. Hume believes that geographies across the globe stand to benefit as nations work together.

Joel Ruet, president of the Paris-based think tank The Bridge Tank, pointed to China's integrated ecosystem of research, development, product launches and funding. “Tech and science must be linked from research and development to products, services and funding. The Chinese ecosystem has all this present across sectors,” he noted. Ruet anticipates breakthroughs in green hydrogen, new energy and materials, stressing the importance of open value chains.

Yen Long from Vietnam's Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution sees new doors opening for Asian collaboration. “Vietnam is emerging in technology, and I'm excited about deeper partnerships in AI and beyond,” Long said, praising China's engagement in regional innovation.

Chris Torrens, chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in China, underscored the urgency for Europe to build bridges. “China offers compelling products and services,” he said. “European companies have much to learn and gain by tapping into this open innovation landscape.”

As Li Qiang's speech reverberates across the forum, the call for inclusive tech partnerships signals a shift towards a more interconnected global ecosystem.
